Hugo Kunz (painter)

Hugo Kunz (born March 10, 1884 in Mainz , † December 18, 1938 in Munich ) was a German painter and etcher .

Life

Hugo Kunz studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1909 to 1911 . His teachers were Peter von Halm and Hugo von Habermann . As a painter, he mainly created portraits and expressionist landscapes and, as a member of the Munich Secession , his work was represented at their exhibitions and at the art exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace .

The magazine Jugend published some of his works on their covers.

After the artist's early death, a commemorative exhibition was held in 1941 on Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt .

Hugo Kunz was a member of the Schlaraffia Association .
