Lapalus took part in U18 and U20 races in the Alpine Cup until 2018 , winning the U20 overall ranking in the 2017/18 season and taking eighth place in the U20 overall ranking in the 2016/17 season. At the Junior World Ski Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , he won the bronze medal with the relay and also achieved 36th place over 15 km freestyle. The following year he won the bronze medal with the relay at the Junior World Ski Championships in Soldier Hollow . In the individual races there, he was seventh in the 10 km freestyle and sixth in the skiathlon . At the 2018 Junior World Ski Championships in Goms , he finished eighth in the skiathlon and over 10 km classic and fourth in the relay. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season he started in Valdidentro for the first time in the Alpine Cup and finished 11th in the 15 km freestyle and tenth place in the 15 km mass start race. This was followed by four top ten placements, including first place over 15 km freestyle and third place in the subsequent pursuit race in Le Brassus and thus achieved fifth place in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup. At the U23 World Championships in Lahti in 2019 , he came 21st in the 30km mass start race and 15th in the 15km freestyle. In March 2019, he took part in the World Cup in Falun for the first time and finished 46th in the 15 km freestyle. After winning his second race in the Alpine Cup at the beginning of the 2019/20 season in Pokljuka over 15 km freestyle, he took his first World Cup points in Davos with 23rd place over 15 km freestyle. At the U23 World Championships 2020 in Oberwiesenthal , he won the bronze medal over 15 km classic. He also achieved 13th place in the 30 km mass start race and sixth place with the relay.
