Hugo Merguet
Peter Adalbert Hugo Merguet (born January 31, 1841 in Pillau , † July 1, 1911 in Dresden ) was a German classical philologist and pedagogue who was best known for his handicrafts on the writings of Caesar and Cicero .
Life
After graduating in 1859, Merguet studied Greek and Latin philology. After his exams and dissertation, he worked as a high school teacher at the Royal Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Königsberg. At the same time he taught as a private lecturer in classical philology at the University of Königsberg . Merguet published various works on the formation of forms in Latin, in which he turned against agglutination . He is known to a broad academic audience primarily for his concordances on the writings of Gaius Iulius Caesars and Marcus Tullius Ciceros , which are considered standard works of Latin philology.
