Hulterstad is for community Mörbylånga belonging village ( småort ) on the Swedish Baltic island of Öland .
The place is located in the south-eastern part of the island and stretches as a row village of rural houses along the eastern coastal road of the island. North is Triberga , south Skärlöv . The barren landscape of the Stora Alvaret extends west of Hulterstad . The Penåsabäcken stream runs through the village towards the Baltic Sea .
In 1283 the place was first mentioned as Hulterstadhum . On June 1, 1676, the Swedish warship Kronan sank off Hulterstad. Until 1951, Hulterstad was an independent municipality. In the village is the church of Hulterstad and one of the typical Öland windmills . South of the town is one of the Iron Age derived burial ground . Nearby is a ship setting from the time of the Vikings .
