Hurşut Meriç (born July 31, 1983 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch - Turkish football player.

Career

Hurşut Meriç was born in Amsterdam as the son of Turkish guest workers . Here he went through the youth teams of various local clubs and then moved to the youth team from AZ Alkmaar . Since he didn’t succeed in becoming a professional team, he left the club and joined EDO. After playing a season here, he was brought to the Amsterdam club FC Türkiyemspor for the 2005/06 season . Here he got some successes with the club in the lower Dutch leagues. After the departure of the club president and thus the main financier, the club was unable to keep its players. So Meriç left the club for the 2007/08 season and moved to the second division club ADO Den Haag . With his new club he was promoted to the Eredivisie in the first season . He then played one season in the Eredivisie.

For the 2009/10 season he had several offers from Turkey . He decided on the offer from Gençlerbirliği Ankara . He was able to assert himself right away and has been one of the club's top performers ever since.

After five years of work for Gençlerbirliği, Meriç moved in the summer of 2013 for a transfer fee of three million Turkish lira within the Süper Lig to the promoted Çaykur Rizespor . Rizespor signed him at the special request of head coach Rıza Çalımbay . After the start of the season he was only replaced sporadically in four games by Çalımbay in the last minutes of the game. In November he was then suspended from the squad on instructions from Çalımbay and fined € 30,000. Çalımbay justified his decision with the fact that Meriç sustained an injury after his injury in the pre-season preparation camp, as a result of which he quickly became overweight and showed no effort to find his old form again. In December 2013 he was taken back to the squad by Çalımbay and completed two games under it. Towards the end of the season he was substituted on by Çalımbay's successor Uğur Tütüneker in four games. At the beginning of August 2014, his contract with Rizespor was terminated by mutual agreement.

In mid-August 2014 he moved to the Turkish second division side Adana Demirspor . After a season at Demirspor, he was committed to the third division Bandırmaspor for the 2015/16 season . With this club he achieved the play-off victory of the TFF 2nd Lig in the summer of 2016 and thus promotion to the TFF 1st Lig . Despite this success, he left this club at the end of the season and moved to the fourth division Karacabey Birlikspor .
