The IAI Harop is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) developed by Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI ). It is an enlarged version of the IAI Harpy .

function

The drone is equipped with 23 kg of explosives and is supposed to actively destroy certain targets. Before the attack, it can circle over the target for a long time ( Loitering Weapon ). To do this, it is dependent on reconnaissance by other drones, aircraft or ground troops, but delivers data and live images to the ground location using optical and infrared cameras.

This type of attack drone is also known as "kamikaze drone". They are seen as a cheap option for close air support for armed forces that do not have manned air support by bombers or attack helicopters.

The drone has so far been bought by India, Azerbaijan and Israel.
