Isenburg is a village in the municipality of Wipperfürth in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the administrative district of Cologne in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

The place is in the west of the city of Wipperfürth on the border with Hückeswagen . The Isenburg Brook, which flows into the Große Dhünn, has its source in the southeast of the village . Neighboring towns are the towns of Vogelsholl and Kaisersbusch , which belong to Hückeswagen , and the towns of Arnsberg , Jostberg and Schmalenfeld in the Wipperfürth urban area .

Isenburg is politically represented by the direct candidate of the constituency 17.1 (171) Hammern in the council of the city of Wipperfürth.

history

In 1530 the place was named "Isenbroch" in a church account of the Wipperfürth church. The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows a courtyard. The spelling of the place name is already Isenburg.

In 1735 the sandstone wayside cross that stands in Isenburg today was created. The cross originally had a location in the garden of the Franciscan monastery in Wipperfürth .
