ICC U19 World Cricket Championship 2016
The 2016 ICC U19 World Cricket Championship was the tenth edition of the Junior Cricket World Championship organized by the International Cricket Council and will take place in Bangladesh from January 27 to February 13 . The world championship will be held in the One-Day International format, in which each team will contest one innings over a maximum of 50 overs .
Attendees
In addition to the junior teams of the ten test nations, Afghanistan, Fiji, Canada, Namibia and Scotland qualified for the finals through regional qualifying tournaments and Nepal through a global qualifying tournament. On January 5, 2016, the Australian Association announced that it would not send a team to Bangladesh for security reasons. As a substitute Ireland was nominated, who had finished second in the global qualifying tournament.
|
format
In four preliminary round groups with four teams each, everyone played against each other, with a win earning two points, a tie or a no result one point. The two best teams qualify for the quarter-finals and the last two teams for the consolation round. The winners of the quarter-finals qualify for the semi-finals, which then determined the finalists. All places are played out, so that a total of 48 games take place.
