IC 2862 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 721 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 2829 , IC 2837 , IC 2852 , IC 2878 .
The object was discovered by Max Wolf on March 27, 1906 .
