IC 4300 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E4 in the constellation Hounds in the northern sky . It is around 542 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 70,000 light years.

The object was discovered on June 16, 1903 by Stéphane Javelle .
