Ian D'Sa
Ian Michael D'Sa (born October 30, 1975 in London , England ) is guitarist , backing singer and songwriter for the Canadian band Billy Talent .
life and career
D'Sa's family moved to Canada from England when he was 3 years old. He grew up in Mississauga , Ontario and began learning the guitar when he was 13. In 1991 he formed a band called Dragonflower with schoolmates . When the band broke up two years later, he founded the band Soluble Fish , with whom he recorded the 5-song demo Nugget Sauces . In 1993 he met Ben Kowalewicz , Jon Gallant and Aaron Solowoniuk at a school talent show. With them he formed a second band besides Soluble Fish , Pezz (the predecessor band of Billy Talent). He played in both bands for a few years until Soluble Fish broke up in 1996. While playing for Pezz , he attended Sheridan College, where he received his degree in classical animation.
Billy Talent
1999 changed Pezz named after a character in the film Hard Core Logo in Billy Talent . After recording, publishing and touring the Billy Talent album , D'Sa co-produced Billy Talent II alongside Gavin Brown . He was also co-director of the video for Fallen Leaves , which received the 2007 MuchMusic Award for Best Music Video and Best Rock Video .
D'Sa produced the song Do It or Die and Saved by Strangers for the EP Slaughter Daughter of Die Mannequin . He played guitar in the song Lucky Me and played many guest appearances on live shows (including Alexisonfire , Sum 41 and Reuben). He produced the first single Buried at Sea by The Operation MD on the album Birds + Bee Stings . Since 2007 Ian D'Sa has been involved in Song for Africa , a Canadian anti-AIDS project, for which he wrote the song Land of a Thousand Hills .
