Ian Robinson (born September 12, 1952 in York ) is a former English squash player .

Career

Ian Robinson was active as a squash player in the 1970s and 1980s, and in January 1982 he reached 19th place, his highest ranking in the world rankings.

With the English national team he took part in several European championships . He won the title with her from 1975 to 1979 five times in a row and again in 1982 . In 1977 and 1981 he was also part of the British and English squads at the World Cup . Both times he finished fourth with the team. He won a total of 55 games for England.

Between 1976 and 1983 he was five times in the main draw of the world championship in singles. In 1981 he achieved his best result with the second round. There he was defeated by Geoff Hunt in three sets. In 1979 he was British runner- up after a final defeat by Gawain Briars .

After his active career, Robinson, who is married and has one son, worked as a squash coach and TV and radio commentator. He also wrote several books on squash.
