Iberg ski lift
Iberg-Skilift is the name of two ski lifts on the Iberg in the Allgäu Alps on the district of Maierhöfen ( Westallgäu ) in the Bavarian district of Lindau .
The longer of the two lifts was the first drag lift in Upper Swabia in 1960 . Many schools in the region hold their ski days in the small ski area with three ski lifts and five ski slopes .
Geographical location
The Iberg ski lifts are located on the north-northwest slope of the Iberg (approx. 960 m above sea level ), which is south-east of the village of Riedholz (to Maierhöfen). The core town is about 2 kilometers north-northeast of the valley station and the Württemberg city of Isny about 6.5 kilometers (as the crow flies ) to the north.
history
As early as 1949 there was a so-called toboggan lift on the site of today's lifts , which had to be discontinued after ten years due to objections from the Technical Monitoring Association . Franz Immler, owner of the Isnyer Milchwerk, and his architect Paul Sauter, together with the farming family Prinz, initiated the construction of what was then a new type of surface lift, which was inaugurated on January 30, 1960.
Ski Area
The facility serves five downhill slopes with two Doppelmayr tow lifts :
The Lift I ( Big Lift ) is about 700 m long and covers approximately 220 m altitude difference to the mountain station at about 960 m above sea level. NN . From there it is possible to reach the valley station on three runs, the Schanzenhang , the steep slope and a race track with a transition to the small lift .
The lift II ( small lift ) is about 291 m long and covers approximately 72 m height difference to the mountain station to 822 m above sea level. NN . From there you can reach the valley station via the practice slope or the Waldabfahrt practice slope .
The Iberg-Stüble is located at the valley station .
Transport links and ownership
The small ski area can be reached from the surrounding towns of Biberach , Friedrichshafen , Isny , Lindau , Leutkirch , Memmingen and Ravensburg . A free car park is available.
The lift system is owned by the Prinz family, who also operate agriculture and forestry.
