content
At the beginning of the film, an ice landscape in the Arctic is shown. You can see the scientist Jennifer Francis from the Woods Hole Research Center, who checks the values of the greenhouse gases carbon dioxide and methane in a monitoring station for the composition of the air . In further overlays, the natural scientists Patricia Lang and Pieter Tans from the NOAA Institute in Colorado inform about the consequences of an increased concentration of greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere and the role of humans in it.
Doctor Michael Mann explains other consequences of climate change, such as the rise in sea levels , the scarcity of drinking water and the associated refugee movements.
The Minister of the Environment of Iceland , Guðmundur Ingi Guðbrandsson , reports on the consequences of climate change for his country. The rapid melting of glaciers on the island can be seen above all on the Skeiðará glacier river . A bridge that was once built over this river now only leads over dry ground.
Possible countermeasures are later pointed out, such as the breeding of oysters or the planting of sequoias in the USA.
