Igeler Hof is a district in the Herrenstrunden district of Bergisch Gladbach .
history
The Igeler Hof estate emerged from a medieval settlement that was first mentioned in a document in 1365 in the form of Egele . At that time it was leased to brother Peter von Aachen . From 1366 to 1806 the farm belonged to the Johanniterkommende Herrenstrunden , who leased it. When surveyed in 1669, the property was 116 acres . In connection with the secularization , the property was put up for sale on July 13, 1807 with a land holding of 170.86 acres. In 1905 there were two residential buildings and nine residents on the Igeler Hof.
The Igeler Hof was bought by the Zanders family ( Maria Zanders ) in 1888 . Here wrote Max Bruch several of his musical works. The name Igeler Hof refers to the dialect "Ijel" (= alder) and means court in the alders . The alder was the characteristic tree species in the formerly swampy Strundetal .
