Igor Gennadjewitsch Velichkin ( Russian Игорь Геннадьевич Величкин ; born July 3, 1987 in Magnitogorsk , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian ice hockey player who was last until August 2020 with Amur Khabarovsk from the Continental Hockey League (KHL) under contract of the right winger has played.
Career
Igor Velichkin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , for whose second team he was active in the third-rate Pervaya League from 2003 to 2006 . Towards the end of the 2005/06 season he also made his debut for the professional team of HK Lada Tolyatti in the Russian Super League . In the following season , the winger won the Russian championship with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . He contributed to this success with two goals and three assists in a total of 33 games. In the 2007/08 season , however, he only came to three more Super League appearances for Metallurg, while he had to spend the entire remaining season with the second team in the Pervaya League.
From 2008 to 2010 Velichkin played for the HK tractor Chelyabinsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . He also started the 2010/11 season at HK tractor , but after only three games within the KHL he moved to Vitjas Chekhov before he was transferred to league rivals Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in December 2011 . In August 2012 his current contract was terminated by Awtomobilist.
A few days later Velichkin was signed by HK Sibir Novosibirsk and only played 12 KHL games for Sibir in the 2012/13 season. At the beginning of the following season he was again under contract with Awtomobilist, but was initially only used in the farm team Sputnik Nizhny Tagil . In mid-September 2013, he therefore moved to Metallurg Novokuznetsk , because he played a total of 26 competitive games. In September 2014 he returned to HK Tractor for a year and then played one season each for Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg and Kunlun Red Star . Between 2017 and 2020, the Russian was in the service of Amur Khabarovsk for three years before moving back to Traktor Chelyabinsk in August 2020 as part of a player transfer. He had his contract terminated as a result of the change.
International
For Russia Velichkin took part in the U18 World Junior Championship in 2005 . During the tournament he prepared two goals in six games.
