Igor Lolo (born July 22, 1982 in Abidjan ) is a former Igorian football player .
Career
society
Lolo was born in Abidjan and started his active career at the age of six at ASEC Abidjan . In the spring of 1993 he then joined the youth academy of the Académie de Sol Beni, founded by Jean-Marc Guillou . The academy is considered a stepping stone to Europe for talented players, and national idols such as Didier Drogba , Yaya Touré and Gervinho come from its youth department . He started his senior career in 2002 with the senior club of the Academy ASEC Mimosas . First, however, Lolo aroused the interest of the Belgian first division club KSK Beveren . There he only played one season, however, before moving to the Ukrainian representative Metalurh Donetsk in the summer . After only one season he returned to Belgium and signed a contract with Germinal Beerschot in the summer of 2005 . With the team he took part in the UEFA Cup , but was eliminated in the first round against Olympique Marseille . Lolo established himself in Antwerp and played 41 league games for Germinal Beerschot in two years. In the summer of 2007, league competitor KRC Genk secured the services of the Ivorian. Here, too, Lolo played in the starting line-up and played for Genk in 27 league games.
The one-year stay in Dnepropetrovsk , which was not very successful with only two appearances, was followed by a two-year engagement with the French first division club AS Monaco . In the 2009/10 season he reached the cup final with his team , but lost it 0-1 against PSG . After more than 50 appearances for AS Monaco, Lolo signed with the Russian club FK Kuban Krasnodar in the summer of 2011 . After two years he was obliged by league rivals FK Rostov .
In January 2016 he switched to KVC Westerlo . Here he was unable to play a competitive game because of a torn inner ligament and then ended his active career.
National team
In May 2008 Lolo made his debut for his country's senior team in a friendly against Paraguay . Lolo made his first appearance in a major tournament at the 2012 African Cup of Nations . There he was in the two group matches against Sudan and Angola as a right-back in the starting line-up, in the knockout round, in which the Ivory Coast advanced to the final, Jean-Jacques Gosso was preferred. A year later he is again part of the Ivory Coast squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa .
