Igor Lumpert (born October 27, 1975 in Novo Mesto ) is a Slovenian jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , composition ).

Live and act

Lumpert studied at the Bruckner Conservatory in Linz with Doug Hammond and Harry Sokal . After completing his studies, at the suggestion of Reggie Workman, he continued his education with a scholarship in 2000 at the New School University in New York City. There he had lessons from George Garzone , Reggie Workman, Buster Williams , Chico Hamilton and Billy Harper . With Kristina Brodersen , Matthias Schriefl , Rolf Langhans, Andreas Kurz and Christian Lettner , he belonged to the band The Sidewinders from 1998 , which received the 1999 Biberach Jazz Prize . In 2002 he was a member of the New School All-Star Wayne Shorter Ensemble . With his band Innertextures a first album was created, which was released in 2004, followed by Mineral Mind (2011). He also worked with Aljoša Jerič ( The Venice Session , 2004) and Igor Lunder from the 2000s . In 2011 he recorded the album Innertextures Live ( Clean Feed Records ) with Chris Tordini and Nasheet Waits in Ljubljana . In 2018 he released the album Igor Lumpert & Innertextures: Eleven (Clean Feed Records).
