il Gusto Barocco is an orchestra specializing in early music and historical performance practice based in Stuttgart .
history
The Baroque Orchestra was founded in 2008 by Jörg Halubek and is made up of young, freelance musicians. The focus of the repertoire is the music of the 17th and 18th centuries and encompasses all genres from concert to opera to church music . Depending on the work and genre, the ensemble appears in chamber music or in large orchestras. The common background of studying at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis shapes the ensemble's approach to early music. Some members are active in teaching and research.
In the last few years the ensemble has drawn attention to itself with musical theater productions, among others in Stuttgart and at the Mannheim National Theater . Numerous radio recordings were made.
The ensemble is supported by the non-profit association il Gusto Barocco e. V. MDB Stefan Kaufmann chairs the board of trustees .

- 2008: Stuttgart Music Festival; JS Bach : The Art of Fugue , in a separate arrangement for singers, prongs, trombones and strings.
- 2009/2010: State Theater Stuttgart ; A. Vivaldi: Juditha triumphans , guest orchestra for a co-production of the Salzburg Festival with the Württemberg State Theaters .
- 2010/2011: Stuttgart, Gaisburg Church; Concert cycle “Bach's Musical Library”, 8 concert programs
- 2012: Liederhalle Stuttgart ; Giuseppe Brescianello : Tisbe (world premiere ).
- 2013–2016: Stuttgart, Liederhalle a. a., three annual concert cycles under the title "Baroque Triathlon".
- 2016: Stuttgart University of Music ; Johann David Heinichen : Flavio Crispo , world premiere.
- 2017: National Theater Mannheim ; Claudio Monteverdi : Il ritorno d´ulisse in patria (Director: Markus Bothe).
- 2018/2019: National Theater Mannheim; L'incoronazione di Poppea (directed by Lorenzo Fioroni ), and Vespers of Mary (directed by Calixto Bieito ).
- 2019: Bach Week Ansbach ; Orchestra in residence , Bach's Brandenburg Concerts, secular cantatas and instrumental concerts.
