The Ilsesee is a bathing lake in Augsburg on the city limits of Königsbrunn .

Location and origin

The Ilsesee is on the edge of the southern Augsburg city ​​area, but can only be reached by motor vehicle from the southern suburb of Königsbrunn and is the center of a local recreation area . It is a closed body of water that is groundwater and has no natural inflow and outflow. The Ilsesee was created through gravel mining and now has a very diverse underwater flora and fauna. Its average water depth is 9 m, at the deepest point 15 m.

Ilsesee is owned by Ilsesee GmbH & Co KG, a subsidiary of Lauter Sand Kies Beton GmbH & Co. KG. Since 2009, a special ecological concept has been implemented, led by the Ilsesee diving center. Diverse planting measures and species regulation typical of the water body were carried out. In addition to protection zones for the lake dwellers, there are specially designated bathing areas, a playground, several sunbathing and play areas and a beach volleyball court . Facilities for changing rooms, toilets and kiosk, the Ilsesee diving base on the west bank, access to Zeissstrasse and a water watch station are also part of the equipment.

Right next to the Ilsesee is the Lautersee (approx. 360 x 220 m, approx. 7  hectares of water), in which swimming is prohibited by regulation of the city of Augsburg.

Martinisee , Kuhsee , Auensee , Weitmannsee and Mandichosee are located near the Ilsesees (along the Lech ).

Diving

In addition to its function as a bathing lake, the Ilsesee is one of the most important diving lakes in Bavaria. It owes this to its beautiful underwater world. In addition to a variety of flora are among his stock of fish among other things, eel , pike , bream , perch , tench , grass carp and sturgeon . Since 2009 the diving rights have been with the diving base Ilsesee GbR, which also takes care of ecological issues. The diving regulations of the diving center Ilsesee are binding for all legal and natural persons. Diving requires a permit.
