The basis for the detailed documentation is the Nuremberg war criminals and industrialists trial and the people sitting in the dock. Starting with the demolition of the swastika in the VIP box of the leader on the Nazi Party Rally Grounds in Nuremberg especially the history of Adolf Hitler and his associates and sponsors since the beginning of the First World War to the end of the Second World War followed.

The last ten minutes of the film deal with the military rearmament in western Germany. But it is also shown how large parts of the German population rebel against the right-wing activities of some circles of the "forever yesterday".

criticism

The Lexicon of International Films states that this is one of the few DEFA productions that deals with the Hitler phenomenon. It is about the interest of capital and its influence on politics, as it is interpreted in the sense of Marxist historiography.
