Immature

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Immature was an American male vocal trio from Los Angeles , California , whose members were only 10 years old when it was founded in 1992. In 1999 the name was changed to IMx , and the group was dissolved three years later. The biggest hits are the songs Never Lie and Constantly , both from 1994.

Band history

Marques Houston , Jerome Jones and Don Santos, who were 10 years old at the time , formed the band in Los Angeles in 1992 with the help of their mentor , producer Chris Stokes. The debut album On Our Worst Behavior , immediately recorded for Virgin Records , included Tear It Up , a top 30 hit on the US R&B charts , which was also used in the animated film Bebe’s Kids .

Don Santos left the band in 1993 and was replaced by Kelton Kessee. In 1994 Immature moved to MCA . The then released album Playtyme Is Over placed on the Billboard pop and R&B charts. The release Never Lie rose to number 5 in both hit lists, Constantly made it into both top 20 a little later. Then the three musicians appeared as actors in the comedy House Party 3 .

The fourth long player We Got It also entered the charts in 1995, and even made it into the top 20 of the R&B charts. None of the associated singles made it into the top 30 of the pop charts. There were the top-ranked releases Feel the Funk from the film Dangerous Minds at number 46 and the title track of the album at number 37. In the R&B charts, both songs climbed into the top 20.

In February 1997, the single debuted Watch Me Do My Thing from Nickelodeon - Sketch - Comedy -Show All That in the top 20 R & B and pop charts in the top 40. The feature with Smooth aka Juanita Carter and Ed from Good Burger aka Kel Mitchell was not included on any LP Immatures. At the end of the year, the album The Journey was released , which made it into the top 20 of the R&B charts, but did not go beyond number 92 in the pop charts. The accompanying single I'm Not a Fool climbed to 19th place on the R&B and 69th place on the pop charts.

After the band had flirted with a renaming for some time, this idea was implemented in 1999. The new name of the trio was shortened to IMx, but the sound remained essentially the same. The album Introducing IMx , released in the same year, and the successor named after the band, released two years later, made it into the charts, but received less attention than their predecessors. Only with the 1999 single Stay the Night was there notable success: the song climbed to number 20 on the R&B and number 23 on the pop charts.

In 2001 a compilation with the greatest hits from Immature and IMx was released. A year later, in 2002, the group split up. Marques Houston started a successful solo career.
