Immo Sennewald (born October 10, 1950 in Suhl ) is a German theater director , actor , author of television productions, writer and freelance publicist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Suhl, Sennewald completed a physics degree at the Humboldt University in Berlin, which he finished with a thesis on the behavior of laser light in thin optical layers. He then got a job as a research assistant at the Academy of Sciences of the GDR . In addition to his studies, Sennewald had worked as an extra in theater productions at the Berliner Volksbühne and Shakespeare's "Leben und Tod König Richard III" ( Deutsches Theater Berlin ) since the beginning of the 1970s , where he made the acquaintance of critical directors, authors and actors who made him change careers moved. When the Institute for Drama Directing was founded in Berlin in 1974, he enrolled in directing studies. In 1979 he finished this with a degree in acting director. Then he was engaged at the theater ( Schwedt an der Oder ).

He left this theater because of ongoing interventions by the State Security, founded the first and only independent theater production in the GDR , worked as a freelance director and actor in theaters, on radio, film and television, as a radio and voice actor, lecturer in drama at the Academy of Dramatic Art and worked as an author in Berlin until 1984 when a professional ban suppressed his work.

In March 1989 he was granted expatriation and relocation to the Federal Republic. Here he changed the medium and started freelance work as an author and speaker of radio and television productions for RIAS and RIAS-TV Berlin and, since April 1992, for Deutsche Welle TV (DW-TV) Berlin. At Deutsche Welle TV Berlin he also worked as a television editor and presenter until the end of 1999.

Starting in 1995, Sennewald produced a series of features about the education system in the unified Germany as a freelance journalist and television producer for DW-TV in Bochum, Cologne and Berlin. He has lived and worked in Baden-Baden since 2000 as an author of films from biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, architecture and technology, psychology, medicine, social and economic sciences for various magazine and news programs on behalf of ARD and ZDF . In 2006, he published the communication science book "Der Mensch Kosmos" at Salier Verlag Leipzig and a trilogy on contemporary historical upheavals in the GDR and the Federal Republic between 1968 and 2010 with the novels "Blick vom Turm", "Babels Berg" and "Raketenschirm".
