Important Records is an American independent label founded in Boston , Massachusetts in 2001 that specializes in indie rock , electronica, and experimental music. The label is now based in Groveland .

Important Records emerged from a well-known record store that was run as an online shop. The first releases were Daniel Johnston's Impossible Love 7 "and the album Amlux by the Japanese noise project Merzbow .
