Conrad Schnitzler
Conrad "Conny" Schnitzler (born March 17, 1937 in Düsseldorf ; † August 4, 2011 in Berlin ) was a German artist , musician and composer who composed mainly electronic music .
Live and act
After training as a mechanical engineer, Schnitzler was a student of the object and action artist Joseph Beuys . In 1962 he married Christa Runge , with whom he had three children. In 1968 he founded the legendary Zodiac Club in Berlin , which was dedicated to subculture.
In November 1969 Conrad Schnitzler founded the band Kluster together with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius . After only two LPs ( Klopfzeichen and Kluster two Easter eggs ), Schnitzler left the formation and founded the short-lived group Eruption (with Klaus Freudigmann and Wolfgang Seidel ), since then he has been active as a soloist.
In 1970 he formed the second formation of the group Tangerine Dream together with Klaus Schulze and Edgar Froese , and the album Electronic Meditation was recorded . That year he got the Kraftwerk group's first synthesizer .
Schnitzler became known in the black metal scene through Mayhem guitarist Øystein Aarseth , who was a fan of Schnitzler's music. After Aarseth traveled to Germany and got to know Schnitzler, he gave him music that was used for the beginning of New Year's Eve , the intro of Mayhem's first EP Deathcrush .
Schnitzler died on August 4, 2011 as a result of gastric cancer in Berlin.
