In the matter of H. and eight others, there is a documentary film by the DEFA studio for documentary films by Richard Cohn-Vossen from 1972 .

action

In March 1972, nine young men entered a district court in Berlin, where they were charged with assault, robbery, burglary and strolling around at work. These young people between the ages of 16 and 20 have met regularly since the spring of 1971 at Kollwitzplatz in the Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg district . One of the cases dealt with concerns dealing with homosexual men, from whom the young people demanded money or property and who were brutally beaten if the demands were not fulfilled.

The court tries to clarify the question of how the young defendants became criminal, how they feel about their actions today. Many are unable to explain the reasons for their behavior to the court and the mothers seated in the hall, as well as the representatives from schools, companies and the residential area. The film indicates the wrongdoing in the upbringing in the parental home and in society, as the testimonies of a mother, a teacher and a social representative of the FDJ confirm. The film team sees its task in stimulating the viewers to think and making them aware of the need to give more support to young people at risk and thus to protect them from wrong actions.

The defendants have been found guilty and convicted in the first instance for various involvement in robbery, hooliganism and theft.
