Inachos ( Greek Ίναχος ) is a river in the Greek landscape of Argolis .

The Inachos rises on Mount Artemisio, flows past the city of Argos to flow into the Argolic Gulf at Nea Kios . Since ancient times, the river has only carried water in winter after rainfall. Numerous myths surround the drying up of the springs. So Inachus was asked to which god, Hera or Poseidon , his land should belong. Choosing Hera, Poseidon dried up the source of the river. Various traditions put the drying up of the sources in the time of Phoroneus or Gelanor .

Strabo reported that the Inachus originates on the Lyrkeus , the mountain adjacent to Artemisio , but this is wrong.
