Others

The President of Uzbekistan, Islom Karimov , who died in September 2016, owed his political rise to Uzmankhodschayev. On his initiative, Karimov was appointed finance minister in 1983, later chairman of the state planning commission, deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers and finally first secretary of the Qashqadaryo Province Regional Committee of the Uzbek SSR. But Uzmankhodschayev's rehabilitation took place only after Karimov's death.
