Ingar Nielsen, member of Kongelig Norsk Seilforening was in 1920 in Antwerp at the Olympic Games in the 10-meter class after the International Rule of 1907 Olympic champion . He was a crew member of the Eleda , which participated as the only boat in its class. The Eleda , whose crew also consists of Sigurd Holter , Gunnar Jamvold , Peter Jamvold , Claus Juell and Ole Sørensen and skipper Erik Herseth passed, due to a lack of competition in two races it was sufficient to reach the goal to win the gold medal.

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 , Nielsen competed in the 8-meter class as a crew member of the Béra . Already in the first race off Le Havre , the Béra managed to qualify for the semi-finals, so that fourth place in the second race only had statistical value. In the third race, which was the first of two semi-finals, the Béra crossed the finish line first as well as in the fourth race. Nielsen became Olympic champion again, as did skipper Carl Ringvold senior and the other crew members Rick Bockelie , Harald Hagen and Ringvold's son Carl Ringvold junior .
