Inge Birkmann

Inge Birkmann (born August 24, 1915 in Bremen , † December 19, 2004 in Munich ) was a German television and theater actress .

Life

In 1941 Inge Birkmann was engaged by Otto Falckenberg at the Münchner Kammerspiele , of which she was a member for seven years. Further stage stations were the Residenztheater in Munich, the Württemberg State Theater in Stuttgart and the German Theater in Göttingen, before she returned to the Münchner Kammerspiele in 1973. She played Cassandra in Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida , Doña Proëza in Paul Claudel's The Silk Shoe . In addition, she was also active as an acting teacher at the renowned Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. Her students included u. a. the actors Edgar Selge and Ruth Drexel . At the end of the 80s, she said goodbye to the stage and retired from her job.

From the end of the 1950s she found a broad field of activity on television. At first she took part in many television productions of plays such as Jean Giraudoux 's Bethanien , Chekhov's Cherry Orchard and Henrik Ibsen's master builder Solness . Her other television productions include the dramas Dr. Margarethe Johnsohn (as mother of the title character embodied by Judy Winter ), The Death of Camilo Torres or: The Reality Can Take a Lot ( Director: Eberhard Itzenplitz ) as well as various episodes of the crime series Der Alte , Der Kommissar and Derrick .

She was also active as a speaker in a whole series of radio plays, for example in 1959 in the only Paul Temple production of the Bavarian radio , namely in Paul Temple and the Conrad case .

Inge Birkmann's first marriage was to the director Hermann Schultze-Griesheim; the couple had a daughter. Schultze-Griesheim died in 1946 in a car accident in which she was seriously injured. Her second husband became the philosopher Hermann Krings in 1949 , who died on February 19, 2004; the marriage remained childless. One of her three grandsons is the actor, director and writer Joachim Meyerhoff .
