Inge Methfessel

Inge Methfessel (born September 22, 1924 in Kreibitz / Northern Bohemia ) is a German writer.

Life

Methfessel grew up in Böhmisch Kamnitz (Northern Bohemia, now the Czech Republic). In 1943 she graduated from high school in Tetschen . In 1945 she was expelled from her home country. She studied medicine in Prague and Halle (Saale) and passed her state examination in 1950, after which she moved to the Federal Republic of Germany.

In 1951 she married Siegfried Methfessel, who later became Professor of Experimental Physics . They have five children together. She lived with the family in Switzerland for four years and in the USA for seven years before returning to Germany in 1969. She has lived in Witten since 1972 .

She is a member of the Esslingen Artists ' Guild, the authors' group of the VHS Witten and the Bochum literary society.

  • 1986 and 1990: 1st prize in the storytelling competition Ostdt. Culture Council
  • 1989: Environmental Literature Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia
  • 1992: Promotion Prize for the Ruhr Area Literature Prize
  • 1993: Sudeten German Culture Prize for Literature
  • Sponsorship award for the NRW culture award for the play The Privy Councilor does the honor
  • 1999: Wilhelm Busch Prize for satirical and humorous poetry
  • 2007: 1st prize from the Esslingen Artists' Guild
