Ingolf Kühn (born May 26, 1953 in Vetschau ) is a German artist.

Life

Ingolf Kühn attended the Polytechnic High School in Vetschau . From the age of nine he trained boxing , judo and karate , became 1st kyu , acquired two trainer's licenses and trained judokas and boxers up to the age of 26. He trained as a heating engineer and welder and was then drafted into the National People's Army . He did his service in the air storm regiment 40 .

Kühn worked from 1977 as a truck driver, fitter, welder, as a painter at a Cottbus car paint shop and as a car dealer. From 1986 to 1989 he was employed by the city of Peitz. In the following time he turned to painting. He continued his self-taught education and attended the Munich Art Academy between 1991 and 1994 , where he was taught by Walter Maurer. He initially earned his living by making copies of the works of old masters . He took over traditional themes and motifs, studied and copied their style of painting and varied his models. He began painting bonnets and other auto parts, mopeds, and hi-fi systems. Since then, his motifs have been trucks sprayed on the American highways, exotic animals, Far Eastern landscapes and free imaginations. In addition to brushes and canvas, he also works with an airbrush gun.

Kühn became known through commissioned work for well-known personalities such as Michael Jackson , Joe Cocker , Siegfried and Roy and Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan . He has also received orders from numerous well-known companies and banks. His work has been exhibited since 1993. From 1996, for example, he exhibited his “rainforest minibus” at trade fairs for the automotive industry in Hanover and Munich.

Kühn works with colors and color gradients that he applies using his own technique. He experiments with color gradients that are not only applied with an airbrush gun, but also applies lacquer colors in rolling strips. Layer by layer, light and dark tones, this partially grinds off after drying, applies other tones until a marbling becomes visible. This creative process creates radiant contrasts and harmonies. Every now and then he changes his work by mechanically interfering with the work of art.
