Ingrid Luterkort (born June 28, 1910 in Lund ; † August 3, 2011 in Hässelby , Stockholm ), as Carola Ingrid Margareta Eklundh , was a Swedish actress , director and drama director .

Life

Luterkort was born as Carola Ingrid Margareta Eklundh in the university town of Lund in southern Sweden . She first trained as a church musician and cantor . From 1932 to 1934 she trained as an actor at the Dramatens elevskola , the drama school of the Royal Dramatic Theater ( Dramaten ) in Stockholm ; there she studied in the same class with Ingrid Bergman , Gunnar Björnstrand , Irma Christenson and Signe Hasso .

She made her stage debut, under the name Ingrid Eklundh, in 1933 on the dramatics in the romantic verse drama Cyrano de Bergerac . She had other roles there in the comedy A Florentine Hat by Eugène Labiche (1934) and in the comedy The Women by Clare Boothe Luce (1938). Luterkort's career as a stage actress lasted a very long time. She last appeared on the stage of the Dramaten in 2006, at the age of 95; she embodied the role of Panope in the tragedy Phaedra by Jean Racine . She is considered to be the oldest actress who has ever stood on a theater stage in Sweden.

From 1940 Luterkort also worked as a theater director; she was one of the first ever female directors in Sweden. Her first directorial work was at the playwright's studio at the Royal Theater in Stockholm. In 1944/1945 and from 1950 to 1953 she worked as a director at Helsingborg City Theater . From 1953 to 1960 she was a director at the city theater in Norrköping - Linköping ; in Nörrköping she was also director of the drama school of the local theater. Later she also directed at the Riksteatern .

Luterkort was also active as a film actress since the late 1930s ; In comparison to her theater work, however, her film roles were always in the background. After a few minor roles, she played the role of his wife Brita in the Swedish family drama Barnen från Frostmofjället (1945). She would have a late role as Fräulein ( Fröken ) in the comedy Klassenfest (2002) by Måns Herngren .

Since the 1990s she also played a few roles in television series ; she embodied Agnes, the mother of the architect and builder in the television series Tre kärlekar (1989; 1991). In 2007 she was in the episode Tödliche Kunst ( Den japanska Shungamålningen ) in the Swedish crime series Kommissar Beck - The New Cases .

From 1963 to 1964 she was the director and administrative director of the drama school of the Royal Dramatic Theater; from 1965 to 1969 she was director and vice-rector of the successor institute, the newly founded State Theater Academy (Statens scenskola / Teaterhögskolan). From 1970 to 1977 she taught theater studies at Stockholm University . Luterkort also worked as a theater researcher ; she published under the title Om igen, Herr Molander! a history of Swedish theater from its beginnings (from 1700) to the present day.

For many years at Sveriges Radio she was one of the speakers for the Dagens dikt show , where a poem was recited every day . At the age of 100 in June 2010, Luterkort was the oldest female speaker to ever recite a poem in this series.

Private

Luterkort was married twice. In 1935 she married the Swedish artist and sculptor Einar Luterkort ; the marriage was divorced in 1952. From 1952 until his death she was married to the artistic director Bengt Segerstedt (1911–1986). Luterkort died at the age of 101 in the morning hours of August 3, 2011; she had previously been hospitalized for a few days . Natural reasons were given as the cause of death.
