For traditional reasons, the coat of arms was taken over from the predecessor Association of Repair Battalion 7.

history

Commander Lieutenant Colonel Klaumann at the 2012 New Year reception

In 1956, the battalion was set up in the former anti-aircraft gun inventory in Unna as Feldzeugbataillon 512 ( FzBtl 512 ) as a cadre and increased to company strength by 1959. The order of the battalion was the repair of wheeled and tracked vehicles as well as light and heavy weapons for the now disbanded 7th Panzer Division . On June 1, 1959, the battalion was renamed Instandsetzungbataillon 470 ( InstBtl 470 ), on October 16, 1966, it was renamed Medium Instandsetzungbataillon 470 ( mInstBtl 470 ) and on October 1, 1972, after a reorganization and change of position, it was renamed again into Maintenance Battalion 470 . On October 1, 1975, the battalion with its incorporation into the 7th Panzer Division received the name Repair Battalion 7 ( InstBtl 7 ). In 2006 the association and the higher-level brigade were subordinated to the 1st Panzer Division in Hanover and were given the name Logistikbataillon 7 ( LogBtl 7 ) on October 1, 2007 . In July 2015 the name was changed to Supply Battalion 7.

Mistreatment allegations

In the summer of 2004, 163 recruits in the 7th Company ( Coesfeld ) are said to have been tied up, kicked, beaten, abused with electric shocks and verbally abused during a fake hostage-taking that was not part of the general basic training . The recruits could have stopped the exercise at any time using a code word, but they rarely made use of it out of shame. After the allegations became known in November 2004, the trial of 17 trainers and the company commander began in March 2007 at the Münster Regional Court . The defendants relativized and partially justified the events and referred to the at least approving behavior of a majority of the recruits. In August 2007, two of the trainers accused were sentenced to probation or a fine. In March 2008, the Münster Regional Court announced the final verdicts: five defendants received prison sentences of up to 22 months on probation, three defendants were acquitted and one case dropped. The former company commander was sentenced to a fine. In January 2009 the Federal Court of Justice overturned two acquittals and two fines and referred the proceedings back to the Münster Regional Court. After a decision by the Federal Court of Justice in October 2009, three non-commissioned officers, who were initially acquitted, have to answer again before the Regional Court of Münster for the mistreatment of the recruits.
