Instinct is an American television series. It has been broadcast by CBS since March 18, 2018. It is based on the book Murder Games by the authors James Patterson and Howard Roughan . The first broadcast of the first season, comprising 13 episodes, began in German-speaking countries on the pay-TV channel TNT Serie on May 23, 2018. Free TV broadcasting began on September 27, 2018 on Sat.1 .
The series was extended for a second season. This has been broadcast on CBS since June 16, 2019. In August 2019, CBS canceled the series after two seasons.

The openly gay author, university professor and former CIA officer Dr. Dylan Reinhart is brought back to his old job when Detective Elizabeth Needham of the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer who uses a Reinhart book to inspire murders.
