The 13th International Literature Festival Berlin with its festival section International Children's and Young People's Literature took place from September 4th to 15th, 2013. The main venue was the Haus der Berliner Festspiele .

Venues
A total of 23 venues were used. The main venue was the Haus der Berliner Festspiele , where the main stage with around 999 seats, the side stage with around 230 seats, the back stage with around 99 seats and the rehearsal stage with around 99 seats were used. Events also took place in 15 cultural institutions, namely in the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania, the Philipp Schaeffer District Central Library , the German Historical Museum , the Yellow Villa, the Ilse Demme gardening school, the picture gallery , the Georg Büchner bookstore on Kollwitzplatz, the Grips -Theater , the Instituto Cervantes Berlin, the youth culture center pump, the youth detention center Berlin, the Neuköllner Oper , the NRW state representation in Berlin, the Schaubude and the Weinmeisterhaus. In addition, events were held at seven schools: in the Allegro primary school, the European Bertha von Suttner grammar school , the Friedensburg secondary school, the Gustav Heinemann school, the Karl Sellheim school, the Lenau primary school and the Wilhelm von Humboldt Community School.

The book contains an introduction to the topic, as well as book recommendations and texts by various authors and illustrators who were guests at the 12th Berlin International Literature Festival.
