International Mendelssohn Prize in Leipzig

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The International Mendelssohn Prize in Leipzig (until 2009: Leipzig Mendelssohn Prize) has been awarded by the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Foundation in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig since 2007 . It can be awarded in three categories: music , visual arts and social engagement . This classification is intended to remind of the creative diversity of the composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , of his distinctive different talents and his tireless work also for social progress. The undoped honorary award is given to people who particularly care about the work and spirit of Mendelssohn.
