Into the Mirror Black -

Into the Mirror Black is the second studio album by the US power metal band Sanctuary . It was released in 1990 via Epic Records .

Emergence

The album was recorded in the Steve Lawson Studio in Seattle . Was produced Into the Mirror Black by Howard Benson, who was proposed to the band on the part of the record company. Singer Warrel Dane and guitarist Lenny Rutledge then drove to Benson in Los Angeles to record a few demos . After the musicians were satisfied with the result, the band decided on Benson as producer. For the song Future Tense one was music video rotated.

In the song Future Tense , Dane paints a negative picture of society in the late 1980s. In an interview conducted in 2006, Dane stated that he was not very surprised that the text was still valid at the time. Only the names of the politicians , criminals and rock stars have changed. Dane wrote the lyrics for the song Epitaph shortly after his father's death.

Allmusic's John Serba described Into the Mirror Black as "an often overlooked masterpiece that fades the lines between Bay Area Thrash Metal, traditional Heavy Metal and European Power Metal". Frank Albrecht from Rock Hard magazine gave it the top grade of ten for "an almost perfect album with incredible guitar work and expressive vocals".

In the book Best of Rock & Metal by the German magazine Rock Hard , which lists the 500 strongest metal and hard rock albums of all time in the opinion of the Rock Hard editors, Into the Mirror Black took 20th place. The song Future Tense came in 31st in a list of the 250 best songs from the field of rock and metal, also compiled by Rock Hard.
