The municipality is divided into seven administrative villages, nine traditional villages and 21 hamlets. The main town of the rural community is the administrative village of Azarori (also: Azérori Sédentaire).

history

The French administration at the time set up a school in Azarori especially for the nomadic population in 1944 . It was the first school of its kind in Niger. The rural community of Azarori emerged as an administrative unit in 2002 in a nationwide administrative reform from part of the canton of Madaoua.

Economy and Infrastructure

Azarori is located in that narrow zone along the border with Nigeria , which extends from Tounouga in the west to Malawa in the east and is practiced in irrigated fields. Millet, sorghum , cowpeas , peanuts, onions and lettuce are grown. Another important economic activity is livestock. Gypsum and lime are also mined in the municipality. Due to the proximity to the departmental capital Madaoua, there are only a few health and educational institutions in Azarori. In the field of education, there are eleven primary schools and one secondary school. Azarori is connected to Madaoua by National Road 16 , which leads in the other direction to the regional capital Tahoua .
