When the international economy in Europe picked up again after the end of the so-called French era and the restoration by the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Röhrs benefited from his earlier commercial experience: He opened a wool shop and exported to France , the Netherlands and England . Thanks to an affiliated cloth business , he was soon able to employ several important factories in Germany and abroad and even delivered his goods to the West Indies .

Around 20 families were able to earn a living by working for Röhrs. In addition , Röhrs unselfishly managed assets and goods entrusted to him . So he was first elected by the united citizens of the city of Hanover "to represent their rights and freedoms" and after four years by the magistrate in 1825 as senator. As such, the devout Röhrs, who had his own altar in his house , was initially responsible for the city's finances , which he knew how to preserve and increase.
