Life

During the communist regime

Moisin was born as the son of the papal honorary prelate and resistance fighter Octavian Moisin (* 1914) and of Maria Rasiga (1921-2011), a great-great-granddaughter of the revolutionary Avram Iancu , as one of seven children. The historian Anton Moisin is the eggs of his brothers . After graduating from high school, he studied engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest . This was followed by a philosophy degree at the University of Bucharest . Because of his father's resistance to communism, Ioan Moisin was also increasingly targeted by the Securitate . The whole family was subjected to repression and he himself suffered disadvantages in his job. He was also denied a doctorate, house searches carried out, or arrested. He was also not allowed to publish, except for a few poems.

After the turn

In 1990 he continued his work against “remnants” of the regime and began his journalistic activities. He worked as an editor of the magazines Unirea (Association) from Blaj and Vocea Mediaşului (The Voice of Medias) and tried to promote the ecumenical movement of Catholics with Orthodox. To this end, he initiated a movement that was mentioned on Vatican Radio , among others , and led it from 1994 onwards. This movement is committed to ensuring that Easter should be celebrated together on the same day by Christians and Orthodox. Also after the dissolution of the Eastern Bloc , Ioan Moisin was elected President of the Asociaţia Generală a Românilor Uniţi ( General Association of Romanian Greek Catholic Believers ) for the Transylvania region .

Moisin was a deputy and senator of the Na Parteiional Țărănesc Creştin Democrat party for the Sibiu district in the legislative period from 1996 to 2000, elected in the list of the Convenţia Democrată Română . He served on the Economic Committee and the Human Rights and Minority Rights Committee.

He lived and worked in Mediaș .

Political activity

In 1997 Moisin demanded that the Securitate connections of the high Orthodox clergy and church dignitaries be disclosed . In December of the same year, Ioan Moisin submitted a draft law to parliament, according to which abortions should be banned again. In the same month he called for a law to prevent a member of the Romanian Communist Party or the Communist Party press from holding any public office in politics, organizations, etc. for the next ten years. Furthermore, a year later he criticized the biology and philosophy lessons in schools and suggested that biology and philosophy books should be reviewed by a commission made up of Orthodox and Catholic “scholars”. The fact that in religious education the origin of man is taught as the work of a higher authority or by God would be in contrast to the Darwinist and rationalist theories conveyed . This fact could lead to irritation of the student, so Moisin. In 1999, he and several MPs called for the rehabilitation of Ion Antonescu .

Journalistic work

Ioan Moisin has published over 230 articles in national newspapers such as România Liberă and Monitorul Oficial , as well as magazines, including Dreptatea , a few in collaboration with his brother Anton Moisin and his father. In the articles he dealt with national, economic and "moral" problems in the country.
