Ipomoeeae is a tribe from the family of wind plants (Convolvulaceae). The type genus are the morning glories ( Ipomoea ).

The representatives of the tribe Ipomoeeae are climbing plants or lianas , only rarely do they grow as small trees . The base of the leaf blades is usually heart-shaped. The flowers are radially symmetrical and hermaphroditic. Their sepals are of the same shape and occasionally enlarge after the flowering period. The stamens are flattened and hairy, the pollen grains are prickly and pantoporate. The carpels are completely fused into a stylus that has spherical scars . The fruits are popped and capsule-shaped or not popped and then fleshy.

  • Argyreia Lour. : With about 90 species; they occur from Indomalesia to Australia
  • Astripomoea A. Meeuse : With 12 kinds; they occur in Africa
  • Blinkworthia Choisy : with two kinds; they occur in Myanmar and China
  • Morning glories ( Ipomoea L. ): With about 650 species
  • Lepistemon flower : With 10 kinds; they occur in the tropics of the Old World
  • Lepistemonopsis Dammer : With only one species:
  • Paralepistemon Lejoly & Lisowski : With only one species:
  • Rivea Choisy (the species are also assigned to Argyreia )
  • Stictocardia Hallier f. : With about 12 species; home is the tropics of the Old World; however, some species are naturalized in America
  • Turbina Raf. : With about 15 species; they occur in tropical America, in Africa and with one species also in New Caledonia.

According to the cladistic definition, the tribe corresponds to the narrowest clade in which Ipomoea pes-tigridis L. and Astripomoea malvacea (Klotzsch) A. Meeuse are classified.
