IrAero ( Russian ИрАэро ) is a Russian airline with headquarters in Irkutsk . It operates national and international scheduled flights , charter flights and cargo flights .

history

IrAero was founded in Irkutsk in 1999. Before 2006, the main business consisted of freight transport in the Far Eastern and North Eastern regions of the country. IrAero has been transporting passengers since 2006.

Financial difficulties

In March 2019, the administration of the Irkutsk region within the framework of the Corporation for the Development of Irkutsk Region (CDIR) (German: Cooperation for the development of the Irkutsk region) agreed to board the financially troubled private airline IrAero Airlines from Irkutsk Take over a 51 percent majority stake.

Efforts to save IrAero were also supported by Ramport-Aero, the operator of Schukowsky Airport, and Solidarnost Bank, one of the airline's key partners. The three companies and IrAero have signed a letter of intent, according to a statement from Ramport-Aero.

Destinations

The airline mainly serves destinations within Russia and the neighboring countries of China , Mongolia , Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan .

Incidents

  • On August 8, 2011, an Antonov An-24RW shot over the runway in Blagoveshchensk . Four of the 41 occupants were seriously injured and the aircraft was totaled.
  • An Antonov AN-26B touched down too hard on December 27, 2002, resulting in a total write-off of the aircraft. None of the six inmates died.
