Irineu Sílvio Wilges OFM (born October 3, 1936 in Pinheiral , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic religious and emeritus bishop of Cachoeira do Sul .

Life

Irineu Sílvio Wilges joined the Franciscan Order and was ordained a priest on July 15, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Cachoeira do Sul on August 14, 2000 . The Archbishop of Aparecida , Aloísio Cardinal Lorscheider , donated him the episcopal ordination on August 12 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Ângelo Domingos Salvador OFMCap , Bishop of Uruguaiana , and José Ivo Lorscheiter , Bishop of Santa Maria . As a motto he chose PAZ E ALEGRIA NO ESPÍRITO SANTO ( Peace and Joy in the Holy Spirit ).

Pope Benedict XVI accepted his age-related resignation on December 28, 2011.
