An Roinn Gnóthaí Eachtracha agus Trádála ( Irish ) or Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade ( English ) is one of the departments of the Irish Government and thus the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland. Since 2011 it is not only for the relations between the Republic of Ireland and other states and for the representation of the interests of Ireland in the European Union , but also for the foreign trade and the development aid of the country. It is headed by the Foreign Minister , whoreportsto two ministers of state . The office of Secretary of State is traditionally one of the most prestigious in the Irish government.

The Ministry is based in St. Stephen's Green on the edge of the center of the capital Dublin . Simon Coveney has been Foreign Minister since 2017 .
