Irvin Talbot

Irvin Talbot (birth name: Isador Cohen ; born January 27, 1894 in St. Louis , Missouri , † December 1973 ibid) was an American conductor who was nominated once for an Oscar for best film music .

Life

Talbot began his career as a conductor and musical director in the Hollywood film industry in 1928 in the drama Manhattan Cocktail by the film director Dorothy Arzner with Nancy Carroll , Richard Arlen and Danny O'Shea in the lead roles. In the course of his career he worked on the production of over ninety films until 1964.

At the 1936 Academy Awards , he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Score as the head of the music department of Paramount Pictures for the Henry Hathaway directed Peter Ibbetson (1935) with Gary Cooper , Ann Harding and John Halliday .

Most recently, he was musical director of the 1964 film comedy The Booby On Duty (1964) directed by Frank Tashlin, starring Jerry Lewis , Glenda Farrell and Everett Sloane .
