Isaac Chinebuah

Isaac K. Chinebuah (* approx. 1926-1928; † June 8, 2006 , Accra , Ghana ) was a leading Ghanaian academic and politician . Chinebuah held the post of Foreign Minister in the Third Republic of Ghana under President Hilla Limann between 1979 and 1981.

Career

Chinebuah was Minister of Education and Information under President Kwame Nkrumah in the first Republic of Ghana .

In 1979, Chinebuah succeeded Gloria Amon Nikoi as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ghana during Hilla Limann's presidency. When Liman was ousted by Jerry Rawlings in the military coup , Obed Asamoah succeeded Chinebuah in the office of Foreign Minister. He was also a member of the then parliament for Nzema East, today's constituency of Ellembelle Constituency .

Between 1963 and 1966, Chinebuah was headmaster at the renowned Achimota School in a district of Accras, now in the north of the capital. He was also a lecturer and research associate at the Institute of African Studies at the University of Ghana in Legon, a district from Accra. Later he was also Dean of the Arts Faculty at the University of Ghana.

Life

Chinebuah died on June 8, 2006, aged 76 or 78, in the well-known military hospital at Military Base 37 in Accra . He was buried on August 11th at a state funeral attended by senior state officials and members of the government. Chinebuah was married to Jane Chinebuah and had eight children.
