Isaac Osei

Isaac Osei (born March 29, 1951 in Kumasi ) is a Ghanaian member of parliament, former diplomat and cocoa official .

Life

Education, work and family

Isaac Osei was the son of a businessman and "Nkosuohene" (honorary head of development for a region) who had a total of twenty children. He attended the Achimota School , a secondary school in the Greater Accra Region . He then completed a degree at the University of Ghana , which he completed in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in economics . In 1976 he studied at the Economic Association Institute of Economics at the University of Colorado Boulder and received a Masters in Development Economics from Williams College in 1977 .

In the 1970s, Osei worked briefly as an assistant in the economic planning department for the Ghanaian Ministry of Finance and Economics. After staying abroad and studying, he returned to Ghana in 1977 and held various positions at the Ghana Tourist Development Company until 1982.

Osei later worked as a consultant on economic issues for both private companies and the Ghanaian government, the United States Agency for International Development , the World Bank , the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and other organizations. He was the founder and managing director of the consulting firm Ghanexim Economic Consultants Limited. Prior to his appointment as High Commissioner , he managed the affairs of Intravenous Infusions Limited (IIL).

Isaac Osei is married and has five children.

Diplomatic and political career

From September 2001 to March 2006, Osei was High Commissioner in London . At the same time, he headed the executive department of the Ghana Commonwealth Secretariat from 2002 to 2004 . From April 13, 2006 to December 2008, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Cocoa Marketing Board .

On 7 December 2012, he was in the parliamentary and presidential elections in Ghana in 2012 in the constituency Subin ( Ashanti Region ) in the Parliament of Ghana selected. After the 2008 election, this is his second term in parliament. There he represents the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is in the opposition role. He is a member of the Committee on Poverty Reduction Strategies and the Committee on Foreign Policy.
