Isakas Vistaneckis

Isakas Vistaneckis (later Itzhak Vistinietzki , born September 29, 1910 in Marijampolė , Russian Empire , today Lithuania , † December 30, 2000 in Tel Aviv , Israel ) was a Lithuanian or Soviet , later Israeli chess player.

Life

Vistaneckis played chess from the age of 10. When he was 13 years old, his mother died. During his studies he worked as an acrobat in the circus . From 1927 to 1932 he studied law at the Faculty of Law at the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas in Kaunas and became a lawyer . Vistaneckis won the championship of the Lithuanian SSR four times (1941, 1954, 1956 and 1959). With the Lithuanian team he took part in the Chess Olympics in 1930 , 1931 , 1933 , 1935 and 1937 and the unofficial Chess Olympiad Chess Olympia 1936 . He worked as a trainer and journalist. In 1946 he organized chess lessons in the Jewish house in Vilnius . He later trained Eduardas Rozentalis and Marija Lichtenfeld . From 1980 he lived in Israel , since then he has carried the name Itzhak Vistinietzki. It had its highest Elo rating of 2340 in July 1987, its highest historical rating before the Elo rating was introduced was 2534 in February 1958.

Vistaneckis was also active in correspondence chess , he was awarded the title of International Correspondence Chess Master in 1970.
