Isha Johansen

Isha Tejan-Cole Johansen (* 1965 in Freetown , Sierra Leone ) is a Fußballfunktionärin and since August 3, 2013 President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA). She is one of only four women in history to head a national football association.

Johansen is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of the first division club FC Johansen , whose greatest success was winning the national cup in 2013 .

Life path

Johansen, née Tejan-Cole , is Muslim and belongs to the Oku or Krio people . She was born into a soccer-crazy family. Her father co-founded the East End Lions , Sierra Leone's most successful club team.

Football official

Johansen founded FC Johansen in 2004 with the aim of promoting young people who were affected by the civil war in Sierra Leone . Until 2011, the club played second class, sooner he was promoted to the Premier League.

On August 3, 2013, Johansen was elected President of the SLFA after its worst competitor, ex-national player Mohamed Kallon , was excluded from the election for formal reasons. Kallon took action against this decision, but it was supported by FIFA .

Johansen has been discussed in the press as a possible successor to FIFA President Sepp Blatter .

On September 7, 2016, Johansen was arrested together with SLFA Vice President Briam Kamara and Secretary General Christopher Kamara on the instructions of the Anti-Corruption Commission , because the SLFA had not submitted any financial reports under their leadership. The three were released on bail a little later . FIFA had announced in a statement that it was behind the three suspects and did not assume any irregularities. At the end of 2018, the Sierra Leones Football Association was suspended by FIFA. After an acquittal in the corruption proceedings in June 2019, Johansen and her deputy were rehabilitated and the association was re-approved by FIFA.
